Welcome to Avernum! Join the multitudes who have battled their
way through this hit series of fantasy role-playing adventures.
Guide the oppressed Avernites, trapped in their prison far underground,
as they struggle for survival, escape, and freedom.
The surface is ruled by the Empire, which controls everything with
an iron fist. All magic is restricted. Fantastic creatures like
dragons and giants are killed on sight. And all who don't fit in,
the misfits, the rebels, those with incorrect opinions, are sent
to Avernum, an enormous underground prison. There, they live out
the rest of their lives in the cold and dark.
The adventures tell the story of the Avernites: how they struggled
to form a nation, throw off the yoke of the Empire, and return to
the surface world.
