I've tried my hand at BoE scenario creation, and I'm not cut out for it. However, I do come up with some wild ideas for new scenarios. Here is a list of ideas that I believe could become very playable missions: WANTED: NEW BLADES OF EXILE SCENARIO IDEAS Into the Eye (Easy Level, Rated R for overkill on violence / gore) Chaos warriors and demons are overrunning the entire planet! You are the son of a Paladin, trained in all of the martial and magical arts. You have the magic bloodline that allows you to withstand pure evil. You and your five friends are given special magical weapons, armor, and tools. You are to be teleported into the Eye of Terror, the space/ time rift that leads to the Chaos World. In this world you must find and appease the four dark, and utterly powerful Chaos Gods. The gods are: Slaayer, the Lord of Pleasure that corrupts all things pleasurible. The God Norgles, the god of sloth, gluttony, decay and rot. The God Kharnak, Blood King, and the God Narnfex, the Prince of Screams and Tears. Each Chaos god must be dealt with. Each God has specific trials and tests that you must complete to win their audience, and then each God has a special request or mission for you after you talk to them. You cannot destroy chaos without destroying order. This is not a combat oriented mission, although combat is required for most places as it is infested with demons, undead, armor-clad chaos troopers, and general goons. (This is sort of like Army of Darkness and the boardgame Warhammer / WH40K. As the player is a group of specially equipped elite men sent through the magic vortex to appease the chaos gods, but on acceptable terms to humans.) Ominous Tides (Easy Level, Rated R for overkill on violence / gore) You are normal ground-pounding, plate-mail wearing halberdiers. You're in a company of about a thousand men known as the 'Storm Bringers'. You are sent off to fight on the war against the Kithrans, a group of extremely lethal little insect people that are made of tough chitinous plate and spikes. They have poisoned fangs, stand about 4 feet tall, and are rugged and purely evil. They have overrun several large parts of the Empire, and continue to do so. Although alone the represent a minor threat, the smallest group the move in is about 25 in number. Kithrans have evolved to fight, each tactical position has been filled. They have heavy ground soldiers that use massive reaper-like arms to slice armor. They have 'archers' that spray poison-tipped barbed bolts in great volume with awesome velocity. They have scouts that run fast and use barbed arm stingers to harass men. They have heavy artillery, that spit explosive acidic spores at arched trajectories. They have mages and priests that use dark magic powers. They even have flying bugs, with eight wings and barbed bolt spitters. They have transport bugs that have large buckets on their backs to move building supplies, food, and even young Kiths. Kiths take 5 years to grow to full size, and are helpless for about half of that time, easily killed. While they use no magical powers, and you are just infantry, magic is rare and is often thrown into disposable weapons for use by undereducated men like yourselves. All sorts of new devices created by the Tower of Magi to help the everyday infantryman with the battle. Single shot fireball wands, acidic, explosive, and lightning hand bombs, arrows, and crossbow bolts. Special quick fire bombs are created for clearing out any Kith bug nests. New types of armor created to combat the bugs poison fangs and acidic blood have been developed. This armor is lightweight due to fact that it is constructed of the very chitinous plate the bugs have as an exoskeleton. Being the average infantrymen means that you'll use halberds, broadswords, bows, healing potions, plate mail, gauntlets, steel toed boots, and all the items that a robust, ready-to-go strong-spirited fighting individual does. Where did these bugs come from? It is rumored that they spread from planet to planet consuming everything. They are pure evil. Incarnate. (This is a lot like the medievil version of Starship troopers. You are just a group of friends that use no magical spells and are to kill the bugs. The player goes from battle to battle, gets ambushed, must destroy nests, etc.) Here Comes The Dead (Easy Level, Rated R for intense flesh-tearing gore) You are the son/daughter of the most powerful necromancer in the universe. While training one day, you discover your father has been taken by a cult of Anti-Necromantic goblins, ogres, and other mutants. You quickly gather up magical items and don your fathers brown robe, which makes you the the necromancer. You gather up five friends and set out to exterminate the whole lot of these folks, only to realize that they were just hired by the Empire to get rid of all Necromancers. You flee, being persucuted. You must clear your name and change the opinion of the Empire leader by any means necessary. Even if this means assassinating him with your bare hands. Several new items, like skulls when thrown produce quickfire and blood wine potions that heal all wounds instantly. Small pouches filled with bones that resurrect any of your friends that may die in battle. (This is a very dark scenario, as it would involve a lot of religious philosophy and sacrifices to dark gods. Very indepth. A lot of puzzles and such would be required. Demons and golems galore. Very cool.) The Wastelands (Medium Level, rated PG-13 for moderate violence) Humanity destroyed itself a long time ago. Then it rebuilt, slowly. From the ashes came a new society of the strong and the smart. A new people. Human kind has lost track of history and future. Past and present make no difference to anyone, anymore. You fight or you die. Small clans have formed and tribes fight each other over land, blood fuel for ancient motor carriages, food, women, and honor. You have grown up in the Laughing Skull clan and have the traditional clan look of the olive colored mohawk hair cut, spiked, thick steel shoulder pad armor, and carry a variety of both ancient and home-made weapons from crossbows, to old-world 'shotguns.' Your position in the clan is that of the 'Kommandoz', an ancient word for soldiers that use their enviroment as a weapon against their enemies. The problem with this whole deal is that the strongest tribes, being the Silent Scream clan, and the Iron Fist clan are at war. They fight over a large plot of fertile land in the center of the wastelands. This area has a natural well of pure water, along with ancient artifacts that weren't destroyed by the ancient weapon known as 'Polaris'. The real conflict, however, is the fact that the dark magic of both of these clans is slowly destroying and corrupting the surrounding land. Either these clans must find a peace agreement, or the Laughing Skull will have to destroy them. (This is like the Exile version of 'Road Warrior.' It uses everything from crossbows to M-16 rifles, to ballistas, to horses, to Ford F-150s. This is all set in the post-nuclear winter enviroment of the USA. You are the best trained small squad of troopers in a clan that is quite furtive, living in the mountains. You must stop two large clans from destroying everything in their war for the ancient unruined city. This city happens to be Nashville, Tennesse. The whole mood of this scenario is that of desperation and strife. Molotov cocktails fly at all hours, and crude gyro-copters attack innocent villagers. All is for power.) The Resurrection (rated PG-13 for oddness in plot and gore) When you were a child you did things as a child, and saw the world through innocent eyes. As you grew into adults you realized that all is not as it seems. People kill each other over petty things. Tribes fight over trivial things. Entire generations die in pointless holy wars. You were one of those who died in the great holy war against the Sliths. You were killed in a hopeless ambush where your group of 'champions' was totally decimated by literally a hundred Slith warriors. You died instantly as a spear had pierced your heart. Your bodies where discovered a month later. Later, you awoke in a massive room that was totally white and seemed to glow. You were dressed in odd robes and were given only one instruction. Resurrect. You later blacked out and woke up choking, inside a large tomb. Your tomb. You and your friend realize that you just have risen from the dead. Your hearts were beating, your chests rising, filled with air. You are dressed in funeral clothing, armed with ceremonial warrior arms and and armor. Your team mage blows the massive tomb door open with a fire ball and you emerge at the top of the Warriors Mountain, a burial place for all great warriors. You descend the mountain and go into town. Your husbands/wives still think you are dead, you Empire unit leader thinks your another KIA, and even you, yourself, doubt your existance. Time to get back into the fight and take out the sliths that killed you. (This is an odd scenario, as your characters play resurrected warriors that died in a massive holy war. You must gather your wits and continue the fight once again, in your second life. This time it'll be different.) As another note, I really enjoyed 'A Small Rebellion'. The ability to work for the rebels and do covert missions really appealed to me. If you or someone else would produce another scenario with that flavor, I'd be delighted. Finally, if you do have anything to say about any of these topics, please E-MAIL me using the return address. I'd like to hear from you once again, Mr. Exileman.
