Hello. I have several comments on the Blades of Exile Scenario editor. I'm using v1.0.4 for the Macintosh on a PowerPC computer. First, I was reading a section under the BOE FAQ, and it mentioned something along the lines of a lock-picking sword. Which would presumably be a weapon with the special ability "lockpick." They mentioned the trick of changing the item's type from Tool (the item type of the lockpicks already included in the default items list) to something else. But I'm afraid that this is the only way that I seem to be able to create the standard type of lockpicks as a new item. When I click on the "reagents" button, it tells me that an item of that type (tool) cannot be given an ability of that sort because it can be equipped. But only equipped lockpicks are usable by the player character, right? What I have to do is to select an item type of "non-use item" for example, set the ability to "lockpick" and then change the item type back to "Tool" without opening the "item special abilities" menu, since the editor seems to automatically clear any item ability that doesn't seem to belong for a certain item type. Also, there seem to be a number of errors in the default item list and monster list that the editor creates when making a new scenario file. I found this list off of one of the unofficial BOE web sites that was linked to your main site, so I don't take credit for this. But I might as well mention it here, since they said that the error was in the 1.0.1 editor and I still see the errors in the 1.0.4 version. <<127 Salamander, has permanent martyr's shield, should have radiate fire fields 128 Ice drake, paralysis ray instead of ice fields 129 Ice pudding, paralysis ray instead of ice fields 132 Null bug, dumbfounding touch instead of anti-magic fields 136 Naga, has paralysis touch, is this correct? 137 Efreet, has permanent martyr's shield, should be radiate fire fields 141 Mauve slime designated as type 3 monster, should be type 1 (means thatwhen you cast 7th level major summoning, you'll get 4th level mauve slimes) 143 Cockroach, has petrification touch, should be no ability (level 2monster! ouch!) 144 Large roach, also petrification touch, should be no ability 183 Gold unicorn, has paralysis touch, is this correct? If you want me to find the exact web address of the list, I can do that for you. Also, later on the web site, they mentioned that the Helm of Speed doesn't seem to affect movement points in battle. I checked on the default items list, and the Helm of Speed has an item strength of 0. A non-zero value would seem better for a titled magic item. Hope this helps.
